The MFD does not have the proper current to charge external devices; such as iPad's or phones.
The MFD was created prior to the inception of these external devices.
The MFD USB Port is designed for the following:
- uploading Jeppesen NavData and Charts
- downloading EMAX data
Pilots can easily test the port by downloading the EMAX data, earlier software versions do not have the capability. To do the EMAX, follow these instructions:
1) format a 2GB or smaller USB stick to FAT Default
2) take the blank 2GB USB to the aircraft, plug into the USB port on the MFD, power on the avionics
3) if the USB is recognized, you will get a message to download the engine logs
How to check Power and Ground:
